Born on 4 June 1990 in Thimphu, Her Majesty Jetsun Pema Wangchuck grew up with strong Bhutanese values rooted in respect, compassion, and service. From a young age, she displayed a passion for learning and went on to pursue her education in Bhutan, India, and the United Kingdom.

While Her Majesty’s intelligence and achievements are widely admired, it is her humility and genuine connection with people that have earned her a special place in the hearts of Bhutanese citizens. Whether meeting school children, visiting remote communities, or attending national events, she is known for her warmth, kindness, and approachable nature.

One of the most memorable moments in Bhutan’s modern history came on 13 October 2011, when Jetsun Pema married His Majesty The King, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, at the historic Punakha Dzong. During the announcement of the marriage, His Majesty spoke of Jetsun Pema’s intelligence, noble character, and compassionate heart. Those qualities continue to define Her Majesty’s role today as Queen of Bhutan.
