The Jomolhari Trek is one of Bhutan’s most iconic and breathtaking trekking adventures, offering an unforgettable journey through the pristine landscapes of the eastern Himalayas. Along the route, trekkers pass through ancient pine forests, yak herder camps, glacial rivers, alpine meadows, and high mountain passes surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks. The peaceful atmosphere and untouched beauty of the region make this trek one of the most rewarding experiences in Bhutan.

One of the major highlights of the trek is reaching the spectacular Jangothang Base Camp, located beneath the towering Mount Jomolhari.   • Day 1: Arrival in Paro & Welcome to Bhutan

    Arrive at Paro International Airport, one of the world’s most scenic Himalayan airports, and receive a warm Bhutanese welcome from your guide. After hotel check-in, explore the charming town of Paro and visit the historic Rinpung Dzong, a magnificent fortress-monastery overlooking the valley. Enjoy your first views of Bhutan’s peaceful landscapes, traditional architecture, and fresh mountain air.

  • Day 2: Acclimatization Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

    Begin your Bhutan adventure with a memorable hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), dramatically perched on a cliffside 900 meters above Paro Valley. The scenic trail passes through pine forests decorated with colorful prayer flags and offers breathtaking mountain views. This hike also helps with altitude acclimatization before the trek begins. In the evening, relax with a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath experience.

  • Day 3: Paro to Shana (Trek Begins)

    Drive to Drukgyel Dzong, the starting point of the trek, and begin walking through beautiful forests, traditional villages, and riverside trails along the Paro Chhu River. Enjoy peaceful Himalayan scenery as you gradually enter Bhutan’s remote mountain wilderness before arriving at the campsite in Shana.

  • Day 4: Shana to Soi Thangthangkha

    Continue trekking through dense pine forests, waterfalls, wooden bridges, and scenic valleys surrounded by towering mountain peaks. Along the way, enjoy views of snow-capped mountains and occasional sightings of yaks and local wildlife while experiencing the peaceful atmosphere of Bhutan’s untouched nature.

  • Day 5: Soi Thangthangkha to Jangothang Base Camp

    Trek deeper into the high Himalayas toward the spectacular Jangothang Base Camp, located beneath the sacred Mount Jomolhari. As the valley opens up, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of towering snow-covered peaks, alpine meadows, and yak pastures. This is considered one of the most beautiful trekking campsites in Bhutan.

  • Day 6: Acclimatization & Exploration at Jangothan

    Spend the day acclimatizing and exploring the surrounding alpine landscapes near Jangothang Base Camp. Optional hikes to nearby ridges and glacial viewpoints offer incredible panoramic views of Mount Jomolhari and neighboring Himalayan peaks. Experience the peaceful lifestyle of local yak herders and enjoy the untouched beauty of the high mountains.

  • Day 7: Jangothang to Lingshi

    Cross high mountain passes surrounded by dramatic Himalayan scenery and descend toward the remote village of Lingshi, known for its isolated mountain landscapes and traditional Bhutanese lifestyle. Along the route, enjoy spectacular views of glaciers, rocky cliffs, and alpine valleys.

  • Day 8: Lingshi to Shodu

    Continue trekking through beautiful alpine landscapes, rhododendron forests, and peaceful mountain trails. Cross scenic rivers and highland meadows while experiencing the raw beauty and silence of Bhutan’s remote Himalayan wilderness.

  • Day 9: Shodu to Barshong

    Follow forest trails along mountain streams and waterfalls while descending through scenic valleys surrounded by untouched forests and dramatic landscapes. Enjoy opportunities to observe Bhutan’s unique flora, birdlife, and peaceful natural surroundings.

  • Day 10: Barshong to Dolam Kencho & Transfer to Thimph

    Complete the final section of the trek through beautiful countryside trails before driving to Thimphu, Bhutan’s peaceful capital city. After days in the mountains, enjoy a comfortable evening relaxing in the city surrounded by forested hills.

  • Day 11: Explore Thimphu & Return to Paro

    Visit the magnificent Buddha Dordenma, one of the world’s largest Buddha statues, and the sacred Memorial Chorten, where locals gather daily for prayers and spiritual rituals. Later, return to Paro and enjoy your final evening in Bhuta

  • Day 12: Farewell Bhutan
